Catherine - The Sequel

I can't lie, I was not over the moon for Catherine's dress this morning. I understand the conservative circumstances she is under but it was just a bit too safe for my taste AND it was McQueen for crying out loud! The former king of all things avant garde.

However, I just stumbled on her second dress and it is killer! Glam, modern and sophisticated. YES!

Sip and Listen

For some reason blogger decided to not post my original version this morning so I am now blogging to you from 40,00 feet in the air as I head West.

It is a royal weekend indeed and in honor of Prince William and his STUNNING bride Catherine, an infamous English cocktail is in order. I first learned of Pimm's Cup from my college roommate and it became a staple. I must warn, proceed with caution while enjoying. What appears to be light and refreshing can quickly take a sharp turn to drunkity drunk. But who am I to turn down a stiff cocktail?

Ingredients
- Ice Cubes
- 2 ounces Pimms Number 1 Cup
- 6 ounces Ginger Ale
- 2 ounces lemon lime soda
- Cucumber Slices

Preparation
Put ice in a highball glass or mug. Add the Pimms and then the ginger ale and soda. Stir and garnish with cucumber. Serve and Enjoy. Cheers.

This next photo just seemed fitting. PS - did anyone else think Pippa killed it today?

There isn't a whole lot I can say about the song of the weekend other than I CAN NOT STOP LISTENING TO IT and I suggest you do the same.

To The Walls

Wallpaper is an intriguing design concept. Once popular in the seventies, it quickly became dated and the first thing you rip out of a newly purchased home. I am still haunted by the orange and blue bird motif that attacked the kitchen in my parents house. But now, wallpaper is back in a big way. Ranging from subtle to bold, prints all over are sprawling across walls and making a name for themselves…yet again.

I’d like to rest my heavy head tonight…

I stumbled upon this oh so glamorous photo shoot several months ago and our excursion to LA seemed to be an appropriate time to showcase it. If only private jets were endless and free so I too could travel in this much style and luxury.

While I may not be traveling as glamorously, I certainly have created my essential LA wardrobe.  An LA wardrobe should be two things – chic and effortless. Here is my go at it:

Matt and I are in Los Angeles this weekend, and I am in the mood for something light and refreshing. It was pretty easy to decide what my drink of the weekend was because this mix was literally on every cocktail menu I viewed last night. Vodka Lemonade is a pretty easy combo however, the possibilities are endless with the ways you can sass it up. My personal favorite has become the Vodka Strawberry Lemonade and it is super easy to make at home.

Vodka Strawberry Lemonade:

  • Mix your own strawberry lemonade (I prefer the instant Country Time)
  • Add Vodka to your discretion
  • Garnish with a lemon
  • And if you are feeling particularly sassy add sugar to the rim

I LOVE the serving idea below! Displaying drinks in mason jars has been around forever, but I love this idea of already having them pre-made. Pour individual servings into a jar, put the lid back on, voila you are ready to go at any summer party AND you won’t have to spend hours at your own party mixing up cocktails

Wednesday night we saw an EPIC performance by Fitz and the Tantrums (thank you Kasey for putting them on our radar). It was seriously one of the best live performances I have seen to date. The band is packed with energy and definitely know how to get a crowd going. They ended the show with one of my favorite songs, MoneyGrabber and it is the perfect song to get you moving this weekend.

Tonight we are going to the Railroad Revival Tour and I am so freaking excited! Review to come next week although I already know it will be nothing short of stellar.

Back to the Basics of Love

Last month some friends and I made an excursion to Fredericksburg, and we did a quick stop-over at the charming town of Luckenbach. To consider it a town based on size would be a stretch but it certainly has enough character to be considered an entire city. Here are a few photos I took along the way…

Project Organization

I love organization and one of the easiest ways to make random home oddities look put together is by throwing them into a catch-all tray.

One of my favorites is the ever popular python tray (inspired by my friend Dee), which currently houses my bar.

I am in the market for a new tray for my bathroom and am having trouble deciding, which do you prefer?

The modern geometric?

The iconic Hermes? Yeah, I think not unless I win the lottery tonight. But a girl can dream…

I stumbled upon a few DIY trays, and while they are fabulous I am not sure I have the patience.

I think my favorite is the Lucite chevron tray from TillyMaison on Etsy!
